Find the best financial services for you at: SMARTFINANCESOLUTIONS.NET - Credit rating reset, and I had good credit!? - I live in Canada, and when I turned 18, I got a credit card to pay for some small things, and payed it off the same day if not the next day. I think I stopped using my credit card shortly after I turned 19. When I turned 20, I moved to Nicaragua for 2 and a half years, and came back to Canada after said period. I am currently 26 years old.

I had gotten married and had opened up a joint account for my wife and myself at a credit union bank. The woman that was attending to us at the time had run a credit check and had told me that my credit rating was very good. She had shown me my previous spending with a credit card, and when I had stopped. She did ask me why I had stopped so I just filled her in on the fact I had been in Nicaragua for 2 and a half years.

Both my wife and I had been offered to apply for credit cards once the account was open, so we took the offer. I however did not ever use my credit card since I did not see the need for it as I was simply paying bills and other things straight from my bank account.

Now recently I had come to find out that after 5 years (?) of inactivity, my credit score had been reset to zero. This made things extremely difficult when it finally came time for us to apply for a mortgage or any sort of financing. The mortgage broker we had used had explained that a credit score reset is the case when someone files for bankruptcy. This was not the case for me, and I would assume any banker doing proper due diligence would be able to see that when establishing a background check.

Anyhow, I was wondering if I were to contact a lawyer, that they may be able to work something out to restore my previous credit history? Or am I stuck with having to rebuild? -
