He recently said he is personally in the hole for about 3 times what his house is worth; the business is separate and doing fine I assume. We live together and have been talking about marriage, and we currently refer to the others family as in-laws.

I'm scared. If he's lying, then he's immature and insecure and playing mind games. On the other hand if it's true I'm in no position to get us out and I really don't want my credit ruined by a bankruptcy when we get married.
