Governor Sindh Dr.Ishrat-ul-Ebad Khan called Dr Qadri in his plane in Lahore in the noon and offered him to mediate between him and the local administration. Qadri was caught up in a catch-22-like situation, as the Punjab administration wasn’t accepting what he had been asking for.

Highly played sources told The News that the longest serving governor of any province in the history of the country, Dr. Ishratul Ebad, who is widely respected for his gentle handling of political affairs, told Qadri that was in Lahore and would personally come to him for assistance.

He also promised to speak to his counterpart in the Punjab. In a smart move, Dr Qadri immediately changed his previous position and offered to leave the plane provided the Punjab Governor Chaudhry Muhammad Sarwar Khan came to the airport personally and took him to his Model Town house in safety.

Meantime, Governor Ishrat talked to the Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif and Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan who assured him that their government was not interested in aggravating the situation but to ease it out. The two agreed with the Sindh governor.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif was also informed about the formula through his staff. He too gave his nod, the sources said.The sources disclosed that Chaudhry Nisar Ali again thanked Dr Ishrat for his role in defusing a tense situation.

Governor Punjab Chaudhry Sarwar Khan, who is equally popular with various political stalwarts, had a useful conversation with Dr Qadri during his journey from the airport to Model Town.

Qadri got an assurance that he wouldn’t be questioned by any agency with regard to certain allegations that could result in his prosecution. He assured the governor that he wouldn’t use derogatory language against the government officials.

The decision about the said questioning would be taken by Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan who has got wide appreciation in the government and as well people from outside about his intelligent handling of the situation in Islamabad/Rawalpindi, as he didn’t allow any untoward incident to take place, the sources said.
