Governor Sindh Dr. Ishrat Ul Ebad Khan and Chief Minister Sindh Syed Murad Ali Shah jointly inaugurated Greater Karachi Bulk Water Supply Scheme KIV.

Governor Sindh Dr. Ishrat Ul Ebad Khan has said that with the completion of K-IV water supply project to Karachi an additional 650 MGD potable water would be supplied to its residents. This he said while addressing the work initiation ceremony of the project at super highway here today. Chief Minister Sindh Syed Murad Ali Shah, Minister Local Government Jam Khan Shoro, DG FWO Maj. General Muhammad Afzal were also present in the occasion.

He said that this project is of immense importance for Karachiites because after its completion the problem of shortage of water to city would be eliminated for a considerable future. Today mark a milestone in this regard as rumors and baseless propaganda regarding the project has died with this ceremony, he added.
Governor Sindh Dr. Ishrat Ul Ebad Khan further said that the starting this project was a challenge but the bigger task was to ensure availability of required water from Indus River System Authority (IRSA), which was managed before the initiation of the project. Those who contributed towards arranging this additional water from IRSA should be commanded by all of us, he observed.

Governor Sindh further lauded the 50% funds from the Federal Government for the project and said that he was thankful to Prime Minister of Pakistan Mian Muhammad Nawaz Sharif in this regard. He also commended the personal interest of Chief Minister Sindh Syed Murad Ali Shah towards this project and said that the pledge by Chief Minister to start the second phase of the project on 23rd March next year was a welcome news for Karachiites.

He said that Frontier Works Organization (FWO) is very reputed for carrying out timely and standard development works and is engaged in many such initiatives within the province including Lyari Express Way (LEW). It is hoped that FWO would carry out and complete this project with same high standards also, he added.

He said with the completion of K-4 and other development projects, the infrastructure of basic amenities would improve considerably and people of the province would feel a visible difference in this regard.
