Massive explosion rocks Tianjin: video shows huge explosives accident in Chinese city - TomoNews

TIANJIN, CHINA — Hundreds of people have been hospitalized after a massive explosion shook the northeastern Chinese city of Tianjin late Wednesday.

An explosion was triggered and followed by a much larger secondary blast after a shipment of explosives caught fire, according to a by The Guardian.

Video posted to the Chinese microblogging platform Weibo captures the immediate aftermath of the first explosion, which sent enormous plumes of thick smoke over the city, followed by the shocking moment the second blast sent a massive fireball up in the air.

The accident has injured untold hundreds.

“The hospital cannot count how many patients we have received – there are too many of them and many of them have burn injuries,” said a doctor at a local hospital, according to the Guardian, which cited local s.

Some three to four hundred patients have edly been admitted to only a single hospital, the Tianjin Harbor Hospital.
