10.Aloe vera-

Listed as one of NASA’s top air-improving plants, the fantastic Aloe works much like the Snake Plant – it emits oxygen at night, making for a more restful slumber. It’s also one of the easiest plants to grow and maintain – it tolerates ‘neglect’ well and so doesn’t require frequent watering.

9.Rubber plant-

These evergreen trees of Indian origin have broad leaves that are deep green in color with a glossy touch. However some variants have purplish tinge to their color. Excellent at eliminating formaldehyde, these also absorb carbon monoxide and trichloroethylene from surrounding air. Rubber plant is easy to grow and may be trimmed to control growth or allowed to grow into a tall tree. A point to note is that it produces latex when trimmed or its branches are broken, so there is a need to be careful with kids or pets in the house.

The Heart Leaf Philodendron is a climbing vine that is often best for homes without small pets or children. If eaten, the plant is toxic. However, it is an excellent choice for removing formaldehyde like what is commonly found in particle board. They are relatively easy to care for but again, should be kept high enough that pets and small children cannot access them.

The American College of Allergy, Asthma & Immunology reported that, in a 2005 experiment, English Ivy removed 94% of airborne feces and 78% of airborne mold in just 12 hours!
