The US Supreme Court has upheld the Trump administration's steel tariffs, and the Biden administration has aligned with this decision, opposing USP Holdings and other steel importers who claimed that the tariffs harmed them. The lower courts had already rejected USP Holdings' claim. Scott Paul, president of the Alliance for American Manufacturing, explained that the Biden administration maintains the tariffs to prevent plant closures and layoffs in Pennsylvania and Ohio, where the impact would be felt not only economically but politically.

In a separate ruling, the Supreme Court has unanimously sided with a deaf student who sued his public school system for failing to provide an adequate education. The Court ruled that after settling a complaint against the school system, Perez and his family could pursue monetary damages under a different federal law. The case could prompt significant change nationwide as other disabled students claim they were let down by school officials. The school system neglected Miguel Luna Perez for 12 years and deceived his parents about his progress, permanently hindering his ability to communicate.
