Australia's northern state of Queensland is dealing with the aftermath of major flooding from Saturday. Some areas got as much as 10 inches of rain in a 24 hour period, and forecasters say there is more to come over the next few days.

The Australian state of Queensland is suffering from major flooding in the aftermath of tropical cyclone Tasha which hit parts of the state on Saturday.

Australia's Bureau of Meteorology says almost 10 inches of rain fell in just 24 hours as of Sunday night.

Homes are flooded and many roads are blocked, causing frustration for motorists.

"The bridge is under, we can't go home, we can't go forward."

In Brisbane, the capital city of Queensland, State Emergency Services got 1,100 calls for help on Sunday night.

Drivers who ignore warnings and drive through flooded roads risk being charged by local police.

Forecasters warn there will be more rain over the next few days along the entire east coast and many inland communities are also on flood watch.
