The band is comprised of an ensemble of authentic Mexican musicians and singers. The band leader (Salvador Jimenez Hernandez) was born in the bustling city of Guadalajara, Mexico, the birth place of the Mariachi. In 1980 he entered the School of Music at the University and specialised in Mariachi instruments and vocals. Salvador is the lead vocalist and plays several instruments including the guitarron, vihuela, guitar and accordion. Mexteca came to life in 2002 and ever since then they have performed at many high profile events throughout the UK, Europe and internationally.
